CFS Play Fencing – Playgrounds, Parks and Play Areas
Play areas and parks are designed to combine safety and fun for children to enjoy. At CFS, we offer a range of playground fencing styles, materials, and colours to complement the play area and optimise child safety. All CFS play fences conform to RoSPA regulations for child-safe fencing solutions.
Do playgrounds need to be fenced?
Although it’s not a legal requirement, some parks and play areas are situated within high-risk locations for children. Traffic, wildlife, dogs, and visibility are all key safety issues which can be successfully managed by implementing and utilising play fencing correctly.
Not all playgrounds need fencing but for those that do, it’s important to select a suitable and play-safe quality fence. Unsuitable or poorly designed playground fencing solutions can lead to missing children, injuries, or equipment damage and theft.
By choosing CFS, you’ll receive a fool-proof play area fencing system tailored to your needs that minimises risk and prevents the worst.
RoSPA fencing provisions
RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) is a not-for-profit organisation that has worked for more than 100 years to help people recognise and reduce their risk of accidents, at home, on the road, at work and at leisure.
Play areas and parks are high-risk areas for children if improperly secured. RoSPA regulate and approve play fencing which does not contain any safety hazards by using the control recommendations contained in EN 1176 (the play equipment standard) for fencing assessments.
RoSPA-approved playground fencing effectively contains children within the relative safety of the play area, restricts dog access with allied gates, and gives children a sense that it is their area, separate from the surroundings.
Playground Fencing Materials
Your ideal fence material will depend on the surroundings and area specifications. At CFS, we offer a range of child-friendly colours, sizes, and styles specially designed to maximise safety and durability whilst enhancing visual aesthetics. Our standard and bespoke playground fence solutions use your choice of materials, including popular timber and steel.
Timber is an attractive and rustic option that also provides durability for all playtime activities. It’s a safe, softer material, ideal for young children. All CFS playground fencing can be supplied with matching playground gates.
Steel fencing is another popular hard-wearing choice, often used in playgrounds suitable for school-aged children. Steel play area fencing can be coloured and styled specifically to requirements as a varied material.
Every play-safe fence and gate product is RoSPA-approved, minimising clothing snags, finger traps or sharps injuries. We use specific features such as anti-trap pale spacing or Mesh structures to ensure safe play. We’ll work with you to source the most suitable materials for your play area or park and we’ll provide a complete protective system to diminish the risk of vandalism and damage.

CFS Sports Pitch Fencing
Sports fencing has drastically upped its game since the old chain link tennis court days. Our new CFS mesh fencing systems are much more durable, cost-effective, and maintainable. CFS sports pitch fencing provides increased protection with heights varying between 1.2 to six metres before netting. Our fences are tailored to your sporting needs, suitable for MUGA facilities, football pitches, tennis courts, basketball courts, hockey fields, and more. All CFS Mesh panels and posts are galvanised and can be polyester powder coated in a wide range of colours.
MUGA fencing
MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) fencing systems need to be secure, durable, and practical – designed to fit a variety of sports.
For most MUGA pitches, CFS recommend our standard twin wire mesh for low-impact sports such as tennis, netball, and basketball. A range of heights is available, making our mesh fencing suitable for pitches of all sizes.
Built-in goal areas, dugouts, timber kickboards, and rebound mesh can also be implemented to provide a complete design for a wider variety of sports. We can also install these in a range of colours which can even match your brand or club.
Spectator fencing
Cordoned areas for spectators are essential for your sports facility. CFS can provide practical fences made with comfortable tubular rails, rebound mesh, and resilient steel posts to improve spectatorship whilst maintaining their safety.
We’ll design and plan the fencing system with you to ensure prime spectator locations are selected for optimum visibility and user experience.
Our sports pitch spectator fencing and rails are easy to install and maintain, available in a variety of heights and colours.
Sports pitch dividers
CFS sports pitch dividers can be implemented into designs to maximise the use of new and existing facilities.
We can plan a layout to utilise space and enable a number of separate games and sports to be played at once, safely. Our twin wire systems are the perfect choice when looking for strong yet practical fencing solution for all sports.
CFS use versatile sports fencing options to create an adaptable space where multiple areas can be transformed when required into one large area with ease.
Rebound fencing
Rebound fencing has been specifically developed for tennis courts and hockey field installation. Rebound mesh is also an ideal addition to fencing for sports such as football, where the ball is more likely to be kicked against the fence.
Sports rebound fencing is designed to absorb the shock impact from balls and sports players to minimise the risk of damage and reduce the risk of injury.
With CFS’s double steel wire mesh, ball-based sports will be played safely, again and again.
Upgrade Your Chain Link Fencing to Wire Mesh Panel Fencing
By installing wire mesh fence caging to replace chain link fencing, you are creating more than just a visual barrier and low-security threshold. You’ll also increase security by utilising the anti-climb mesh structure, and enhance sporting practicality, resilience, and durability.
Increased Security
Mesh and Chain Link are often used for similar purposes, but there’s a key difference in structure making chain link less secure. Providing they have the right tools, intruders can easily breach a chain link fence by cutting, unravelling, or lifting it. With wire mesh, each panel is individually welded at every bar intersection to provide a strong, interlocking structure, reducing the risk of breaches.
Improved Cost vs Durability
With a low upfront price point, chain link fencing might seem like the ideal choice. But the ratio of cost to durability is high-cost long-term due to common structural impairments. Wire mesh fence partitions have the functional quality and durability to require fewer replacements and ongoing costs. This, alongside the competitive upfront prices, make Mesh a more cost-effective long-term fence solution.
Easier To Maintain
Environmental stresses drastically impact chain links and wire mesh fences differently. With a stronger structure, wire mesh fences are able to withstand a longer duration of wear. If damaged, panelled sections can be removed and replaced individually allowing the rest of the system to remain untouched. Whereas chain link fences require the entire system to be removed in order to effectively repair the damage.
